what is fostering?

A foster home is a temporary home where the dog can feel safe and loved, while expanding their indoor-living skills.

When you foster an animal, you're saving two lives: the life of the animal you're fostering and you're making space in the shelter for another animal to be saved.

Fostering can be anywhere from 3 weeks to a few months commitment. We ask that our fosters commit to a minimum of 2 weeks before the dog is available for adoption. This time is crucial, as it helps us learn about the animal's behavior, temperament, and individual needs. By doing this, we are better able to match our dogs with their forever families to ensure a successful adoption for both the dog and their new family.

We provide all necessary supplies:

Crate
Bed
Collar / Leash / Harness
Medical Care
Heartworm and Flea/tick preventatives
Food, Treats and Toys
Any other necessary supplies

STEP ONE

If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please fill out

our Foster Application by clicking here.

STEP TWO

One of our foster coordinators will contact you within a week to go over your application and address any questions you may have.

STEP THREE

We will schedule a home visit to ensure your home is set up for your foster dog. The in-home visit may be done virtually to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

STEP FOUR

Get matched! Once you and Peace Love and Paws Rescue are all in agreement for fostering, we will match you with a foster pet that best suits your lifestyle. We will bring the pet to your home, along with all necessary supplies.

STEP FIVE

Adoption is an option! All Peace Love and Paws Rescue fosters have the first right to adopt. This means that, if at any time you decide you want to adopt your foster pet, you just have to inform the foster care coordinator of your decision, sign the adoption agreement, and pay the adoption fee.

If at any time the foster dog is not able to stay with your family until adopted, Peace Love and Paws Rescue will find an alternate foster home.

Simply Provide your home & heart...we take care of the rest!

As a foster, you're responsible for:

Patience, love and understanding while the new foster pet adjusts to the new home and foster family.

Treat your foster pets like you would your own pet: giving lots of love, socialization, training, exercise, and quality care.

Transport your foster pet to veterinary appointments, as needed.

Provide photos, bio information and videos, if possible, to Peace Love and Paws Rescue so we can effectively market your foster pets for adoption.

Communicate with the foster care coordinators on a regular basis, informing them of any behavior issues, potential medical issues, needed supplies (prior to running out completely) and updates to pets’ online bios and information.

Be available to take your foster pet to meet and greet to introduce the dog to potential adopters.
